Learning Styles

This past week in class we focused on learning styles. Over the years I have developed study habits that work best for me. By knowing what my learning style is I am able to get the most out of my classes. For example, I would say my learning style is Visual/spatial. I can remember material best when it is shown in an image or a graph. I feel I am able to comprehend the material more easily. I would say that is my main learning style, but I also learn best using the Interpersonal as well. If I have someone help explain to me what the professor was talking about I feel I better understand it. This might be because I went back to the topic and repeated what I learned, therefore helping me remember the material. I feel it is great to know what your learning style is as well as knowing what other people's learning style is. Being aware that everyone learns in different ways is very important when working with our students next semester. If we are aware of this we will be more help to them.

  1. I agree with you that it is important to recognize different learning styles. That way if a student is having trouble studying or doing homework it will be easier for us to give them suggestions based on how they learn best.

  2. I like how you talked about how it is nice to know your learning style. I know in some cases people really don't know there best learning style. Some cases are because in high school they never really had to put time in to a learning style but when we get to college we definitely need to have a learning style because it is all on us. So knowing is nice and knowing others will help us help the new students next year.

  3. I also agree that it is really important to not only know our own learning style, but to recognize that everyone has a different one. It can make it very interesting to try to teach, but it's a lot of fun getting different input from everyone and finding a way to make it work for the best. Knowing our learning styles and about others can really help us help the students.
